About Us

We are the Mid-Hudson Technology & Engineering Educators' Association and we are located in the Southeastern District and are region #25.  This chapter was inactive for several years but was re-started in 2007.  Unfortunately, after a few meetings the chapter slipped back into an inactive state.  So in 2009 we tried it again and are still going strong.  We meet about six times a year alternating our meeting between school visits and industrial visits.  If you are ready, come show your support by becoming a member!

So,  you may be wondering some questions like; why we meet, how is this important, how do the students benefit or what is in it for me?  Our school meetings allow us to see and experience what other teachers are doing as well as HOW they are doing it.  It offers a chance for collaboration which is how we can grow individually, professionally and as a group.  Also, for new teachers, this is an invaluable opportunity to collect materials and ideas- especially if the new teacher is the only tech teacher within their district which is often the case.  Our meetings also allow us to network and discuss what it going on from district to district as well as receive information from the state through our parent organization NYSTEEA.  Teachers even have the opportunity to discuss things like classroom management skills, new topics, new technologies, student clubs and more.
Industrial visits ensure we as tech teachers are incorporating skills our students will need to succeed in college and/or in the working world if the student decides to enter the workforce out of high school.  Seeing how technology and our teachings are being applied allows us to create a more authentic learning experience by sharing what we see in our industrial visits- in a sense, bringing industry into our classroom.  These visits tell us vital information that we cannot get any other way- information such as; jobs needed, skill sets needed, education levels, salaries and just keeping a general pulse on happenings in industry.

Above all, our chapter allows us to stay connected within our profession.
